Size: When choosing the right size, your height, weight, and skillset contribute a lot. But as a rule of thumb, the length of the ski being anywhere between your chin and the top of your head when vertically kept would be the ideal size.

Basket: To stop the ski pole from sinking too deep into the snow, all poles have a plastic disc near the bottom end called the basket. The size of the basket changes according to the change in the terrain. When the terrain is inclined toward a powered texture, choose a bigger basket and when the slopes are groomed, choose a smaller basket.

Pole Length: The length of the ski pole that would suit you best depends purely on your height. As a rule of thumb, stand with your ski boots on and hold the pole upside down and hold it just below the basket. If the angle of your elbow is 90 degrees, the pole fits you well but if its more or less than 90 degrees, try out other sizes.

Flex: Ski boot flex means how hard it is to flex the boot forward and it ranges all the way from 50 which is rated soft and 130 which is rated stiff. Beginner boots start from 50 and go all the way up to 65, Intermediate to 80, Advanced 110 to 130. When choosing the right flex, the terrain, your speed, type of snow, your height and weight also contribute to a great extent. Size: Ski boots sizes are measured using the international sizing standard referred to and Mondopoint or simply mondo. It is calculated using the width and the longest length of your foot. Beginners can go for the size indicated or slightly longer even if it feels small. For intermediate users, the indicated size or slightly shorter and for experts should choose a shell size that is half of one full size smaller.

Liners: Ski boots feature liners which is a soft inner boot that is removable and protects your feet from the outer shell. Ski boots generally come with liners that are heat-moldable and the more expensive, the most heat moldable the material would be. Types of lines are Non-moldable which as the name suggests isn’t moldable and provides generic padding and stability for your feet. Thermoformable foam is another type that uses the heat of your feet to get a custom fit. Custom moldable liners are the last kind. To achieve a custom fit for your feet, this liner has to be exposed to an artificial source of heat.
