Technical Information

How warm is this padded jacket?
This padded jacket, when worn as a 3rd layer, has a temperature rating of -5°C that was certified during a standardised test in a thermal chamber. The mannequin wears a synthetic long-sleeved t-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h wind. We also tested this model under "static" conditions, its temperature rating is +5°C in this case.
Want to know more about the wadding?
We use 100% polyester wadding (70% recycled). The wadding is made from silicon-coated spiral fibres that make it highly compressible and highly durable. Despite its low thickness, it has high insulation properties thanks to the air trapped inside, and remains lightweight. It retains its warmth even when wet.
Do you know why the inner lining of your padded jacket is grey?
Because the fabric we use reduces CO2 emissions by 40%. The fabric used is innovative because it mixes a self-dyed black thread and an undyed thread. Compared to a conventional dyeing process, this process reduces by: • 66% fine particle emissions (PM2.5) • 74% Eutrophication of fresh water • 68% eutrophication of sea water
Additional sustainable development information
On the Trek 100 black and Trek 100 blue models, the outer fabric uses a clean process known as dope dyeing (the thread is dyed before the yarn is woven) reducing CO2 emissions by 36% More information:
Durable materials
This polyamide fabric that uses 20 denier thread can withstand 20,000 abrasion cycles. Martindale test, 12947-2 standard Outer: 100% polyamide fabric 39g/sqm, 20 denier Lining: 100% polyester fabric 35g/sqm, mix of 15 to 20 denier threads
Water repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend that you restore it after each wash
PFC-free water repellent treatment
On the Trek 100 padded jacket, the water repellent treatment doesn't contain PFCs (perfluorocarbons), i.e. it is PFC-Free. PFCs are used to make a fabric water repellent, but they are very toxic for the environment and people. By replacing the PFCs with other technologies that we are developing to enable the same level of performance, we are helping to reduce this environmental impact.
How to restore water-repellent properties?
Follow the guide! We recommend that you use the care product to treat and restore water-repellent properties
Inside flap under the zip that protects from the wind. Elasticated cuffs Flap at the top of the collar to protect the chin. Tightening with an elastic cord and toggle at the hem.
A score for comparing products' environmental impact
The environmental impact of the product is calculated based on its entire life cycle and using different indicators. A general score from A to E is provided to help you easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc). Decathlon is committed to displaying this environmental information. More information:

Product test
In November 2017, 6 trekkers (4 men and 2 women) with part of the Forclaz design team tested this padded jacket for four days in the Southern French Alps. We were then able to make the final modifications and validate it for mountain trekking use.

Stockage tips
In order to preserve all the padding's fill power, store your padded jacket on a hanger rather than stuffing it in its pouch!
