Technical Information

How it was designed...
This model is entirely designed and approved by our team, at the foot of Mont Blanc. The starting point of our design is the external locking mechanism for precise, fast adjustment. Combined with a push-pin that unfolds and folds automatically. Then we designed a handle that allows multiple grips: along the tube for climbs and banking terrain, with the wrist-strap for efficient pushing and on the knob for descents. Then we use our best 7075-T6 aluminium for controlled weight
How to adjust your poles to the correct length?
Hold the poles with your arms bent at a right angle. To adjust the length: open the outer lever, slide the tube to the desired length and close the lever. Pull the lower part until the automatic push-pin locks. Never go over the STOP line to avoid breaking the pole.
Directions for use
These hiking poles are designed to help you balance, propel yourself forward and spread the effort between arms and legs. To increase safety, check your pole's locking mechanism by pressing down hard on it before you start and at regular intervals. If you notice that your pole tends to slide down, the locking mechanism turn ring needs adjusting. Open the lever and tighten the turn ring by a quarter or half turn. Do not attach to your backpack in stormy weather
Care tips
Maintaining your poles properly enables you to maintain optimal function and increases their lifespan. After use, if water has got into the pole, take the sections apart and allow to dry. Clean any dust and mud with water or without, with a soft brush or paintbrush. Once dry, you can reassemble the parts. We recommend that you do not try to oil or grease them.
Why sell them individually?
Here at Decathlon, we have decided to sell our hiking/trekking poles individually. First because of how they are used. Indeed, some people only want to use one pole. This meets their needs. Second, because if one of your poles breaks, you can buy just one pole rather than a pair.

Our field testers. In addition to these laboratory tests, Théo, our trial engineer, ensures that each model also passes the test on standardised test terrain. They enable us to confirm comfort, ease of adjustment, vibrations, etc. Finally, durability is also confirmed with a durability test mission that can be up to 500 km long.

Product test
To set our thresholds, we have measured the stresses on the poles in the most demanding situations. During the design stage, each model passes laboratory tests that reproduce these stresses (compression, three-point flexing etc.) until rupture. We also test parts separately (tightening power, tearing, etc). Finally, these tests are regularly repeated during production to guarantee constant quality.

Stockage tips
Store the poles without tightening the adjustment system, to avoid stress and retain their tightening power. Store poles in a dry place.
