How to choose Hockey shoes?
Why a specific shoe for hockey?
Hockey shoes have 2 specific features:
• reinforcements, in particular on the front of the foot and the heel, to protect the foot
against the impact of the stick and ball
• a sole adapted to sand or water-based astroturf specific for hockey, to ensure the best
traction on these surfaces
“Mixed”, “female” or “male” model?
Certain models are designed specifically for women. It is not simply the colours, they are designed
for lower weights and different foot shapes. This does not mean all women should use women's
shoes, personal preference and lifestyle is a big consideration.
Some women have a small size and therefore tend to go for junior shoes.
These are not adapted to the stature of the adult woman. We would strongly
recommend you to choose an adult shoe for an adult woman.
What size to choose for Hockey shoes?
Make sure the size of the shoe you are trying on is suitable for the shape of your foot. Put on
hockey socks to try them on. Once the shoe is laced, take a firm stance on the ground and try to
move your foot in all directions. The shoe must not wiggle.
Try short bursts and dynamic movements for a better idea.
